Belgian August Edition:Essentiel Antwerp

Meet Essentiel Antwerp, a Belgian line that started of small, turning into the successful line it is today.

What started in 1999 as a simple T-shirt line, with 4 different T-shirts available in 20 colours soon turned in to a full line of colourful mens and women's wear. 

After a year  Esfan Eghtessadi en Inge Onsea open there first boutique in Antwerp. 

Soon shops would follow in Knokke, Leuven, Paris, Hasselt and Lille.

Essentiel Antwerp brings a collection with bold prints and colourful materials that cannot be missed in any wardrobe. They have also been known to work with other people, such as Sofie Valkiers, the woman behind the well known fashion blog, Fashionista.

I like the way this couple has worked together to bring a line of fashionable and colourful clothing. You can find there items online, either at there webshop or other sites such Asos.

Belgian: Juli edition Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten is one of Belgium's famous fashion designers and our Belgian designer of the month. Born in Antwerp, Dries Van Noten is a third generation tailer and is know all over the world and even sells pieces at Barney's, and that's saying something! Back in 2005 New York Times described him as "one of fashion's most cerebral designers". Dries Van Noten is know for his unique style, working with color, prints and embroidery with an ethnic touch and it's all wearable.

I like this designer and the prints he uses. He likes clashing prints and dares to mix them up with a brilliant outcome. Slightly(!) pricier than the previous designers I have shown but nevertheless a great Belgian designer that makes us proud to be Belgian.

This month I'm introducing you to another Belgian designers from Ghent, Cléo Baele & Sarah Bos, the brains behind the label Black Balloon. Sharing a passion for music and fashion, the duo are inspired by there common interests. 

Cléo and Sarah met each other 7years ago while parting and soon found they had much in common. Together they launch a new label Black Balloon . There label has an edgy yet refined look, nouveau chic as they like to call them selves.

Belgian: April edition Karolien Verstraeten

Every month I'll be showing you one of our own, Belgian designers. This month I'm showing you a young designer who originally started of as an architect but soon realised her heart lies in the fashion designing business. Starting small designing and selling for friends and family and growing fast ,Karolien Verstraeten Designs was born. She currently has Flagshipstores in Antwerp and Ghent and tries to do as much as possible herself , keeping her line affordable.

Her cute and chic designs are fresh and straight cutlines give it extra edge. She's definitely one to watch!
